Latest versions Joomla 3.x & Security Pro
Hello Jose,
I'm having an issue with the spam protection plugin. It appears that someone is targeting one of my sites and setting up fake accounts. I'm using the latest version of VirtueMart and a person can't register unless they have an item in their cart. Once they do they, they go to the registration page to register and continue with the checkout. Spam protection does block many of them but some are still getting through--17 last night. I have Google Captcha on the registration page. Any suggestions?
As always, I thank you in advance.
Dimitrios

Hi Dimitrios,
Are you sure there is no other page to register? It's not the first time I found an unprotected page used to create fake accounts. You can check this by accessing to the server logs and searching for URLs during the time those accounts are created.
Anyway the spam protection plug-in search for usernames, IPs and/or emails into the stopforumspam website. If any of them appears there a number of times (frequency), then the registration is not allowed. This means that until someone doesn't report those parameters as spam, the spammer will be able to register in any site.
I think I need to add more protection, but I need time to do that
Regards,
Jose
