Issue with File Integrity was created by chrishall57
Hi, when I go to the File Integrity menu and select Exceptions I get this message

There has been an error when trying to insert data into the database. NO DATA HAVE BEEN SAVED.Please, check your database configuration, especially the 'max_allowed_packet' value, and launch a new check.

Any ideas?

Hi Chris,

When "add exceptions into database" option is set to "yes", all files and folders excluded are added to the file generated. If there are many of them, the file could be too big and, if certain server values as the "max_allowed_packet" or "post_max_size" are low, the file won't be saved.

Please check this: go to global configuration-> file integrity -> exceptions field. There shouldn't be many files, as what we want with the integrity scan is to be alerted of file modifications. If are many files there, delete them and launch a new scan.

Regards,
Jose

Hi Chris,

The "Files/Folder exceptions; comma separated values" field, but I see it's empty.

Try the following: go to global configuration -> file manager and set the base path to any of the folders listed (i.e cli). Launch a scan; if it finish then it's an issue with any of the php settings. If not then I will need access to the site to check what's happening.

Regards,
Jose

Had a look across other sites where I have SCPro in use and they all seem to have content that differs, some have directories, some have files.

What determines the entry in this exceptions field and how does it get populated?

I did initialize the data and ran a file integrity with the exceptions box empty and it did complete with no issues this time.

Hi Chris,

That's what I suspected: there were many entries added as exception. You populate it by clicking on the "add exceptions" button when a file is reported as modified by the integrity scan.

In the exceptions field there should be only a few files. When the integrity scan reports files modified you must click on the "mark all modified files as safe" button. That way the hash value for those files is updated and you will be notified again if in a future those files changes.

Regards,
Jose
